The Word-Fellows Workshop
WordHouse welcomes your storytelling debut and will assess your submission. We are invested in how you develop the emotion in the story, how you face and process memory. We want to invite you to a Word-Fellows Workshop of your personal essays that explore a truly unique experience:
The Extraordinary You: How do you bring your story to life?
Time and Memory: How do you confront and shape the past?
We look forward to reading your compelling stories! Selected writers will be invited to a Word-Fellows Workshop to refine their work. Submit your essay today!
Guidelines for Admission to the Word-Fellows Workshop
What to submit
1. Submit ONE original, first-time essay of creative non-fiction. For this first batch of the workshop, we are accepting up to ten [10] personal essays.
2. Your personal story must be previously unpublished (this includes your website/blog).
3. Wordhouse will not accept any personal story featuring bigotry, hateful language, or sexual assault of any kind. We will make sure to discard every story written through artificial intelligence.
4. We do not accept poetry, flash fiction, short stories [fiction], and novel-in-progress at this time.
How to submit
5. Please send all stories as .doc or .docx attachments to ninangjops@pageawriter.online with your story title and your last name in the subject line.
6. Include a short third-person bio in your email.
7. Do not include a synopsis of the essay in your email. Do not paste the story into the body of the email.
8. Word count: 1000-1500 words. Please respect our word count. Use double space and 12pt Times Roman font.
Deadline of submission: May 30, 2025 at 11:59 EST
Payment: Free
Simultaneous Submissions: We are not accepting personal essays that are submitted simultaneously to other online platforms or publications.
Multiple Submissions: We will read only one personal essay per candidate.
Craft is important to us, and while we don’t expect perfection, we expect you to prepare your essay carefully. Please don’t send us scratch paper, doodles, or half-hearted attempts without due diligence.
